MY STORY
Experienced. Certified. Supportive.
My story started in 2003 while I was employed as a teacher at a high school in Pretoria as a HOD tasked with special education needs. I had a counselling room and I attended to pupils and parents with difficult issues. I was also seen as the PRO of the school linked with all universities and colleges to approach the school for appointments to meet with the grade 11 and 12 pupils regarding study choices. I was also the right hand of the school psychologist. This gave me great opportunities to have a very special bond with learners and parents. I realized a big void in my ability to do proper functional therapy with high school children with unique and difficult circumstances. I then started looking for courses to equip myself better to handle these day-to-day challenges.
I came across a course that both addressed psychology and religion, and this was a perfect match for me being a pastor’s wife and a counsellor. But the cherry on top was that it also included career guidance. I learn to know top career counselors don't just hand their clients the results of vocational tests. They get to know their clients and, most importantly, they give their clients the space to talk through the issues affecting their career and career choices as well as their personal fears. I was in a perfect spot! The children would knock on my door and ask their questions regarding future and decisions, and I was my privilege in those early days to hand them brochures and pamphlets and discuss possible courses and possible careers and eventually I started the assessments. This is now 20 years ago!

The goal of Career Counseling is to not only help you make the decisions you need to make now, but to give you the knowledge and skills you need to make future career and life decisions. I had the perfect forum to do just that! Through my counselling and teaching abilities, I as a career counsellor could additionally support people in gaining a better understanding of what really matters for them personally, how they can plan their careers autonomously, or help them in making tough decisions and getting through times of crisis, both my calling at that time. Finally, I got the opportunity after 17 years of part time career counselling to open my own practice and only concentrate on career guidance and counselling and now I can support my clients in finding suitable placements, sometimes even jobs, in working out conflicts with their employers, or finding the support of other helpful services. I also can support other help professions like occupational therapists, Psychologists and HR staff in their duties by providing a service with assessments.

I am so thank full that I could find the perfect match in my career that I would love to help everyone find theirs.
ABOUT CAREER COUNSEL
Choose a career that will enable you to flourish
Many people start out in life uncertain about which career to choose. They set out on what is probably the most important journey of their life with nothing but their gut feel, or expectations from the likes of parents who have guessed at what line of work they are likely to excel in, as their compass. Some experience no choice in the matter, or simply don’t know any better. To them, a career is a means to an end and they grab the first work opportunity they can get in the hope that they will learn to love what they do. Soon, these people find themselves tied down in a job they don’t particularly like, or even hate. They feel they have no other choice. Others follow their interests or persue a career related to their hobbies, and while this is marginally better, it doesn’t always lead to success.
Think Career offers a scientific, proven approach to making better career decisions about where to apply your talents. At Think Career, we provide you with the tools you need to make informed decisions about your career, no matter where you are in life, so that you are able to work toward a work situation that will enable you to reach your full potential and take you closer to experiencing ultimate fulfillment.
THE PROCESS
I am a practising Functional Therapist, who can score the scales, generate client profiles as
well as give a comprehensive report on the functioning of each and every learner. We can
measure more than 30 different values than can be used in career guidance studies to support
the learner in making a well thought trough decision.
These scales are multidimensional scales and measure different areas of functioning in one
scale.
Multidimensional scales can also be used in order to get a detailed description of the person.
It can also be used to get a description of the attitude of a person towards their desired
working environment.
The career planning scale aims to assist clients in making career decisions within the context
of their overall functioning. This scale helps the high school child to make responsible
subject choices as well as responsible career choices. This can also help the student to make
sure he/she makes the right choice of study at the right University, Technical University or
College or maybe private institutions. The following areas are measured:
Personal Functioning
Decision Making Abilities
Independency& Responsibility
Fields of Interest
Work Values
It is as easy as completing a online assessment in the comfort of your home and I will provide
you with a comprehensive report and my personal recommendation what to research as
possible career options.
